On Saturday, November 2, I joined the Colonel Joseph Winston, Old North State, and Battle of Shallow Ford Chapters at the Maple Chase Country Club in Winston-Salem. It was so good to be greeted by a beaming Ann Zuhr, who took part in the school tour and then came home to greet everyone at this meeting. After a lovely breakfast, I shared a Power Point presentation about our NC Daughters’ projects. A lively and enthusiastic conversation about Wreaths Across America followed. We were treated to brief presentations by our DAR/SAR liaison Bette Pena and the SAR liaison, her husband, Richard.
Afterwards, Donna Henderson led a most moving Patriot Memorial Service. She and Terri Engle read a list of over 200 patriots belonging to the three chapters’ members and the visitors. I was indeed honored to have my Patriots’ names included. Let us remember that they are not truly gone as long as someone speaks their name. Remember this when you place wreaths on our veterans’ graves and say their names aloud on Saturday, December 14. At the conclusion of the meeting the Colonel Joseph Winston Chapter sold the table centerpieces and added those funds to their chapter donation. These ladies are industrious. If you’re interested in seeing the Patriot Memorial Service Terri Engle composed please check my officer page on our members’ website. Thank you, Ladies, for a wonderful meal, good company, and your support for our NC Daughters’ Projects.
